Introduction

Sandhutton & Breckenbrough Village Hall building started life as a board school, built in 1892 and used as such until its closure in the late 1950’s. It was purchased as a village hall with a constitution on the 7th June 1962.

Under that constitution there are elected trustees, in addition to their role as trustees they form the Management Committee, along with other committee members who are elected annually.

The Hall

The hall has been progressively modernised and improved over the years and is available to hire for a wide range of activities. Windows have been replaced, a disabled parking bay in the carpark, toilets adapted to allow disabled access and baby changing facilities installed. The original vaulted ceiling has been restored along with improving the insulation, rewiring, new heaters, and eco-friendly lighting.

Facilities and Activities

Sandhutton and Breckenbrough Village Hall offers a main hall of some 63 square metres and a large entrance space of 30 square metres that can be divided off from the main hall by glass bifold doors. Off the entrance hall is a kitchen available for visitors with cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, water boiler together with a sink/drainer area. An adequate number of folding tables and chairs capable of seating 80 people.

The hall hosts a variety of groups including regular exercise and craft sessions.

The large car park provides off street parking for visitors and lends itself to pop up events such as food vans and car boot fairs.

There have been a number of events, such as a Mexican themed event, very successful 70’s night with live music, wine and cheese night, race night to name a few.
Recently Saltburn Smugglers, a sea shanty group, attended to a sell-out audience.
The Prosecco/afternoon teas in the village hall have been a success for elderly/lonely members of the village and also act as an opportunity for new residents to meet other residents.
